Thelma Goddard

July 19, 1923 - December 28, 2017


Thelma Goddard was born on July 19, 1923 to OzRoe and Minnie Bell (Shaw) Pierce in Hinton, OK. She passed away on December 28, 2017 at her home in Allen, OK at the age of 94. Thelma graduated from Binger High School in 1943. She was an outstanding basketball player and was known as "Tippi" by all of her friends. During WWII she worked at the Douglas Aircraft Plant in MWC, and it was there that she met Art Goddard. The couple was married on January 9, 1944 in Covington, OK. The couple was married until Art's passing on April 21, 2008. Thelma was an avid quilter. She has given each of her beloved family members numerous quilts. Her greatest joy was serving her Lord. Over the years she has taught from kindergarten up through Senior adults at the Scott Baptist Church. She loved and cherished her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oz and Minnie Pierce, her husband Art Goddard, and sisters, Zelda Phillips and Mabel Peck.

Survivors Include: her children, Don Goddard of Hinton, OK, Janice Deaton and husband Hank of Allen, OK, and Ronnie Goddard and wife Rae Ann of Hinton, OK, seven grandchildren, Tracy Luttrell and husband Shawn of Norman, OK, Tina Smith of Norman, OK, Travis Goddard and wife Haley of El Reno, OK, Ronnie Todd Goddard of OKC, OK, Anissa Stein of Geary, OK, Kenneth Deaton and wife Julie of Alex, OK, Mike Deaton and wife Carla of Alex, OK, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren and sister, Lois Hill of Manito, OK as well as many other relatives and friends.

Burial: Niles Cemetery, Hinton, OK
