Darrin Lynn Wilburn was born on November 1, 1966 in Weatherford, OK to Orbie Gene and Carolyn Joy (Gunter) Wilburn of Eakly, OK. He passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at his home in Eakly, OK at the age of 51. Darrin graduated from Eakly High School in 1984 where he was active in sports, especially baseball, and FFA. Darrin loved being outdoors and began working at a young age as a farm hand for area farmers and friends: Darrell (Butch) Garrett, Randy Kardokus, and Duane Yearwood. He later worked for the Eakly Coop, Agri-Plus of Eakly, 4-Star Trailers Inc in Oklahoma City, and the City of Weatherford for his dear friend Kendall Huckabay, until failing health forced him to retire. Darrin enjoyed golfing, OU football, Thunder Basketball, NASCAR, playing pool, riding motorcycles, country music, especially Hank Williams, Jr. and Jamey Johnson, and spending time with his friends. Darrin lived his entire life in Eakly, except for a few months when he lived at Fort Cobb Lake. At the age of 10, Darrin was baptized and joined the First Baptist Church of Eakly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orbie Gene Wilburn, his grandparents, Clyde and Mary Wilburn and Carroll and Flora Gunter, his brother in law, Terry Kenedy, his nephew, Orbie DeWayne Wilburn, uncles and aunts, Dorland and Joan Wilburn, Bud Gunter, Joyce and Jim Cowling, and Ann and Butch Murphy, and special cousins and friends, Coy Wilburn and Jerry Watson.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Wilburn of Eakly, OK, his sister, Carol Kenedy of Oklahoma City, OK, his brother and sister in law, Gary and Linda Wilburn of Weatherford, OK, nieces and nephews Brandon and Heidi Wilburn of Aledo, TX, Tara and Ty Morrison of Oklahoma City, and Tessa Kenedy and fiancé Jerremy Jackson of Edmond; his great niece and great nephews, Kenedy Morrison of Oklahoma City, Julian Thomas Jackson of Edmond, and Chase and Gage Wilburn of Aledo, TX; one uncle, Jimmie Gunter and wife Angie of Fort Cobb; one aunt, Reta Coats and husband Dewey of Carnegie, as well as numerous cousins and friends, and his lifelong friend Cloyce Yearwood.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or the Eakly Fire Department.
