Verena Evans Pearcy

Verena Evans Pearcy was born September 14, 1922, 12 miles East of Elkhart, KS, 1 mile North of the Oklahoma line to Ralph and Mabel (Burdett) Evans. She passed away on September 18, 2018 in Weatherford, OK at the age of 96. Verena attended Elkhart School and a country school, West Cess. In 1935, the family moved to Monte Vista, CO because of the drought, dust storms, and depression. Cecil Pearcy, from Wakita, OK came to Monte Vista to work. They met at the Nazarene Church in 1938 and were married January 29, 1939, to this union were born, Cubert Leon, Grace Arlene, Gale Clifton, Shelby Ray, and Charles Dean; all born after the Pearcy's moved back to Oklahoma. The Pearcy's farmed the 1st 10 years of their marriage, then entered full time pastoring in the Assembly of God churches in the summer of 1949. After pastoring eleven churches all in Oklahoma, the Pearcy' retired at Eakly, OK in 1980.

Rev. Pearcy passed away July31, 2004 after celebrating 65 years of marriage. She lost both parents in 1959 and her only brother, Vernon Evans in 1989.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Arlene Baker and her husband Frank of Jay, OK, Four-sons, Cubert Pearcy and his wife Jean of Pocahontas, AR; Gale Pearcy and his wife Donna of Colony, OK; Shelby Pearcy and his wife Marquita of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Charles Pearcy and his wife Sherry of Choctaw, OK,; 10-grandchildren: Tonya, Galen, Leon, Kevin, Kenton, Sterling, Mischelle, Terry, Brenton, and Angela; 22-great-grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren: 2 nieces, and many friends all over Oklahoma.
