Michael Paul Winters

February 24, 1971 - July 18, 2018


Michael Paul Winters was born in Okeene Oklahoma on February 24, 1971 to James and Lois (Erickson) Winters. He passed away in his home in Jacksonville, Arkansas on July 18, 2018 at the age of 47. Mike attended grade school at Geary elementary and middle school. He spent his last four years in Hinton, Oklahoma and graduated from Hinton High School in 1990. Mike was a dedicated football player but his passion was always wrestling. Because he gave 110% every time he stepped on the mat, in 1990 he was an Oklahoma State Champion at 141 pounds. Mike had a great love for adventure and his country which made him a great fit for the US Marine Corps. While serving Mike continued his passion by wrestling for the USMC team. He honorably served 1990-2001 as a dedicated Marine. After his years of service Mike worked as an Electrical Engineer overseeing power production for several deployed locations in Afghanistan and Iraq. Mike spent numerous hours mentoring fellow veterans at Fort Roots Medical Center. To his family he was thoughtful and generous, He was willing to help and welcoming to everyone. He was greatly loved by his family and he adored his nieces and great-nephew.

Survivors Include: Siblings, Patrick Winters and wife Tracey of Cabot, AR, and Patriece O’Malley of Boston, MA, Nieces, Courtney Marriott and husband Christopher, Katie Winters, Hannah Winters, Elisabeth, and Caitlin O’Malley, Great-nephew, Julian O’Malley, Step-mom, Betty King, Aunts and Uncles, Othia Erickson of Hinton, OK and Geneva Bledsoe of Arlington, TX, Ab and Becky Erickson of Moore, OK, as well as numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, James Winters and Lois (Erickson) Winters, grandparents, Carl and Dora Erickson, aunts and uncles, Bob Erickson, Bill Erickson, Leon Bledsoe, Juanita and Lloyd Dunn and Yvonne Erickson.
