Dorothy A. Blevins was born January 31, 1934 to Bill and Katharina (Lindemann) Debano in Hinton, OK. Dorothy passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 in Hinton, OK at the age of 84
She graduated from Hinton High School in 1952. While in high school she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company. Dorothy then worked at Southwestern State College's cafeteria to pay her own way through college, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1955. She went on to earn her Master's degree in 1971. Dorothy started her teaching career in Oklahoma City. She taught school in New Mexico, Texas, and Kansas before moving back to Oklahoma in 1972. She began teaching at Hinton Public Schools in 1973, teaching middle school students and eventually becoming Principal before retiring in 1992. Along with teaching, Dorothy had many other jobs including working as a Naturalist and clerk at Red Rock Canyon State Park in Hinton.
Mrs. Blevins, as she was known by so many loving former students, enjoyed reading, cross stitch, word find puzzles, crossword puzzles, and playing games. She was always the life of the party and laughed often everywhere she went. She loved all types of animals and loved collecting rolling pins. She was a member of the Red Hatters and the Willing Workers Club. She also enjoyed volunteering and participating in activities at the Hinton Senior Citizens Center. Dorothy became a member of the First Christian Church in Hinton in 1973. She deeply loved her family and never missed any of her kids' or grandkids' activities.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Sally and Mary. Sally Blevins and Georgie Rasco reside in Oklahoma City, OK. Mary and David Randall reside in Hinton, OK. She also had two grandsons, Dane Randall of Oklahoma City, OK, and Bryce Randall of Stillwater, OK, whom she loved and adored. Other survivors include her niece and two nephews, Dee Debano-Burns, Scott Debano, and Tracy Debano, as well as her great nieces and great nephews. Dorothy also leaves behind a multitude of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Katharina Debano, her brother, Jimmie Debano, and her devoted life-partner Charles Howard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Hinton Senior Citizens Center, 515 West Main Street, Hinton, OK 73047.
