Rose Mary (Hefner) Marlett

March 3, 1935 - July 15, 2018

Rose Mary (Hefner) Marlett, 83, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, July 15, 2018. Rose Mary was born during the Dust Bowl on March 3, 1935, in Hazel Dell Community, just west of Minco, Oklahoma, the baby of eight children to Phoecian and Maude Elizabeth (Moffett) Hefner.

At the age of 13, Rosemary made her profession of her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized in Minco, Oklahoma. She attended school there and graduated from Minco High School in 1953 as Salutatorian of her class. She was also awarded a scholastic scholarship to Oklahoma Women’s College in Chickasha. She married Doyle Marlett on May 30, 1953 in Minco at the Baptist Parsonage. They established their life's work together in Binger, OK. She was a full-time homemaker and mother to four children

Rosemary was extremely involved in her Binger community by volunteering her time with the election board and being a substitute teacher at the school. She was also very involved at Binger Baptist Church where she was an active member and served in the nursery, choir, as church clerk, VBS, and taught many different age levels of Sunday School. Her hobbies included sewing and ceramic painting. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and she loved spending time with them where she was lovingly known as “Gram.” Rosemary was known by many as a sincere listener with an enormous, caring heart. She tried to help in whatever way she could because she understood what adversity and hard times were and also how to overcome both of them. Even in her later years when she was restricted by her health, she still continued to care for others and was indeed a prayer warrior for so many. She leaves behind a legacy of a strong Christian woman of faith.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Tommy Hefner, Bobby Gene Hefner, Jesse Hefner, Anna Lou Howard, Lela V. Savage, Inez Adams, Imogene Simpkins, and Faye Hensley.

She is survived by her husband, Doyle, of the home, and her children: Jan and Preston Collins – Norman; Danny and Candra Marlett – Walters; Marleita Marlett – Anadarko; and Kelly and David Mitchell – Walters; six grandchildren: Dara Evans and husband Cody; Mered Bowen and husband Robby; David Marlett and wife Melinda; Trent Marlett and wife Kendi; Blake Mitchell; and Bradan Mitchell; eight great-grandchildren: Brason and Beckam Evans, Ava and Amelia Bowen, Peyton and Reese Marlett, Cheslee and Reagan Marlett; an extra “daughter” Jan Evans, and a host of extended family and friends.
