Obituary

The Last Alarm sounded for Dean D. Lilly, Tuesday, February 28, 2017, when his Heavenly Father called him home at the age of 81. Dean was born November 16, 1935 in Calumet, Oklahoma, to Ernest V. and Helen (Hurst) Lilly. Dean graduated from Jones High School in 1953. He served in the US Air National Guard for the next 9 years as a Tec. Sgt. He was united in marriage to Zona Ditmore on June 1, 1956 in Spencer, OK. She preceded him in death May 25, 2000. In 1956 Dean and Zona bought a home in Spencer, OK. He joined the OKC Fire Department, November 16, 1959 where he served until his retirement in December of 1979 after reaching the rank of Captain. In 1975, Dean and Zona moved to Hinton, OK. Dean worked as a pumper in the oil field for 10 years. He worked for Hinton Public Schools as a janitor and bus driver from 1989 until 1997. Dean married Joyce (Crain) Morgan on January 18, 2008 in Anadarko, OK. Dean was a member of the Masonic Lodge, 32nd Degree Mason, attended the Red Rock United Methodist Church, Spencer United Methodist Church, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hinton, OK. Dean had accepted Christ as his personal Savior and honored God, his family, and his country. Dean loved jokes and funny sayings, and he had a nickname for everyone.

Survivors include wife, Joyce Lilly of the home in Hinton, OK, son, Kevin Lilly of Anadarko, OK, son-in-law, Richard Samaniego of Anadarko, OK, 2 grandchildren, Felicia McDonald and husband Michael of Seattle, WA and Richard Dean Samaniego of Bethany, OK, cousin, Kay McKenzie of Laguna Niguel, CA and 3 step-children, John Morgan and wife Colynda of Yukon, OK, Scott Morgan and Roy Morgan, both of Hinton, OK as well as other family and friends.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Helen Lilly, wife, Zona Lilly, daughter, Karla Samaniego, brother, Ted Lilly and niece, Melia Lilly.

Services: Saturday, 1:00 PM, March 4, 2017, First United Methodist Church, Hinton, OK

Officiating: Rev. Gary Haynes
